Thank you for your interest in the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance! The Board of Directors of the AFWA Valley of the Sun Chapter would like to welcome you to our website. Throughout the pages of our website, you will find information on membership benefits, educational programs, social and community service events and career resources.
The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (formerly American Society of Women Accountants) was formed 80 years ago to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. The majority of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, CFP and CFE. Certifications and degrees are not requirements of membership and our members have diverse backgrounds, career paths and experience levels.
The mission of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance is to enable women in all accounting and finance fields to achieve their full potential and to contribute to their profession. Membership in the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance is a great way to promote your own personal & professional growth, gain technical knowledge, and give back to the community.
At the local level, our chapter has monthly meetings that provide relevant continuing education for accounting and financial professionals and an opportunity to connect with peers. Please visit our Program Calendar for a quick glance at our meeting dates and topics. In addition to our monthly meetings, we have several networking events and community service projects during the year. Our Connections page has more details on fun events and volunteer opportunities. Our chapter hosts a one day seminar featuring 8 hours of CPE each summer. Our Seminars page will have the latest details on this annual event. Each year, enthusiastic members of our chapter develop their own leadership skills by serving as board members, committee chairs and supporting chapter events. No matter your experience level or schedule, you have an opportunity to contribute to our chapter’s success and learn new skills. Visit our Board of Directors page for our current chapter leaders and our Contact Us page for chapter contact information.
As an AFWA member you have access to powerful national resources including a career center, special reports and publications, webinars, member exchange networks, and annual conferences. Members can also participate at the national level through committee and board positions furthering our organization’s mission. These roles give members additional opportunities for professional development and expanding their networks. Visit our national website www.afwa.org for more information on these opportunities.
The Foundation of AFWA is another wonderful resource. Our Foundation provides scholarships for accounting and finance students, CPA review courses, and certification exam scholarships each year. Members can support The Foundation through our fun fundraising events and as a board or committee volunteer.
No matter what stage of your career you are in (student, entry level or experienced professional), AFWA has something to offer. We are excited to share the value of membership with you. Please visit our Membership page to see the many benefits available to you. Our members have had wonderful experiences as part of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance. We have shared some of their stories with you on our Testimonials page. You are welcome to contact us with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
